Environment
Overview of the Environment in Centralized Automation Testing Suite
The environment here refers to the software development environment. For example: Development, UAT, Production, etc.
Why is an environment necessary?
When creating new test cases, test scenarios, or executing test cases and scenarios, an environment is required so that later, when reporting, users can evaluate the completeness and error rate of the application to be tested for each separate environment. Additionally, there are values that change according to each environment, such as URLs, etc. Users can create environment parameters to use during the configuration process. See more about environmental parameters
This section will guide users on how to manage environments in the Centralized Automation Testing Suite:
- Create a New Environment
- View and Edit the Environment
- Delete the Environment
- Initialize Environment Parameters
- Configure Values for Environment Parameters
Create a New Environment
To create a new environment in the Centralized Automation Testing Suite, follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Setting on the project menu.

Step 2: Click on the ENVIRONMENT tab.

Step 3: Click NEW ENVIRONMENT.

Step 4: Enter all the correct and complete information into the CREATE PROJECT ENVIRONMENT.

Description of the information fields:
| Field Name | Mandatory | Format | Constraints | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Code | Yes | Textbox | Code must be unique | The code of the environment |
| Name | Yes | Textbox | The name of the environment | |
| Default environment | Yes | Combobox | Set the default for the environment, values include: - Default: Functions with the environment field default select this environment - Not default: do not set this environment as default. Allows selecting 1 value | |
| Status | Yes | Combobox | The operational status of the environment, values include: - Active: The environment is operational - Inactive: The environment is not operational | |
| Description | No | Textarea | Enter a description of the environment |
Step 5: Click OK, and the system displays the message “Create Successful”.
View and Edit the Environment

On the ENVIRONMENT tab, the system displays a list of environments for the project.

Step 1: Select any environment you want to view or edit, click the ⋮ button on the left side of the record.

Step 2: Select Edit metadata from the displayed menu.

Step 3: View and edit the information of the environment as required by the user. Description of information fields is similar to the new add form.
Step 4: Click OK, the system displays the message “Update successful”.
Delete the Environment
Note: The condition for deleting an environment is that the environment must not have data constraints (has never been used). If it has been used, it cannot be deleted.
To delete an environment in the Centralized Automation Testing Suite, follow these steps:
Step 1: On the ENVIRONMENT tab, select any environment you want to delete, click ⋮ on the left side of the record.

Step 2: Select Delete from the displayed menu.

Step 3: The system displays a confirmation popup. Click the Delete button to delete the environment.

The system displays the message “Delete successful”.
Initialize Environment Parameters
Environment parameters are consistent parameters across software development environments.
For example: The URL of a website for each development environment is different. This URL can be set as an environment parameter.

Why are environment parameters needed?
With information that changes depending on the development environment, using environment variables during test scenario configuration will help limit information changes, and the values of parameters will be flexible depending on the user's environment. used during test execution.
For example: Configuring a website's URL access. If the environment parameter is not left, each time the test script is executed on a different environment, the user will have to edit the URL on the configuration or re-enter the value of the URL on the test data.
To initialize environment parameters in the Centralized Automation Testing Suite, follow these steps:
Step 1: On the Setting function screen, select the PARAMETER tab.

Step 2: Click New parameter to create additional parameters. There is no limit to the number of parameters created at once.

Step 3: The system displays information to configure the parameter.

Description of the information fields:
| Field Name | Mandatory | Format | Constraints | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Variable Type | Yes | Combobox | Select Environment variable | |
| Name | Yes | Textbox | Name must be unique, start with a letter, contain only lowercase letters, numbers, and “_” | Allows the user to enter the name of the parameter. |
Step 4: After entering the correct and complete information, click the SAVE button to save the created environment parameters. The system displays the message “Create successful”
Configure Values for Environment Parameters
To configure environment parameter values in the Centralized Automation Testing Suite, follow these steps:
Step 1: On the ENVIRONMENT tab, select any environment for which the user needs to configure parameter values, click ⋮ on the left side of the record.

Step 2: Click on Config parameters
The system displays the screen for updating environment parameter values:

Step 3: Enter values for the corresponding parameters of the environment, click UPDATE to update the parameter values. The system displays the message “Update successful”
